Burnaby, BC – The Simon Fraser University women's basketball has entered the USA Today Sports division II top 25 coaches poll, coming in ranked 17th.
The Clan enter this weekend's home opener against the Cal-State Stanislaus Warriors with a 4-1 non-conference record thus far.
The Simon Fraser women were picked to finish second in the pre-season Great Northwest Athletic Conference poll and have looked strong in the early going.
SFU started their season at the Disney Tip-Off Classic in Anaheim, CA and defeated eighth ranked University of California San Diego as well as the 13th ranked Grand Canyon University Antelopes.
Last weekend, the team traveled to St. George, UT and suffered their first loss of the season to Colorado Mesa before rebounding with a convincing 74-52 victory over the Dixie State College Red Storm.
Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe (Toronto, ON) leads the Clan with an average of 14.4 points per game and the Clan have also receiving a significant offensive contribution form
Erin Chambers (Mission, BC) who has averaged 14.2 points per game.
The USA Today Sports board of coaches is made up of 33 head coaches at Division II institutions. All are members of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
The Simon Fraser women will host their first division II game as full-fledged members of the NCAA on Friday, November 23 in the West Gym against the CSU Stanislaus Warriors of the California Collegiate Athletics Association.
