Portland, OR – Three Simon Fraser University women's basketball players have been named to the 2012-13 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Academic all-conference team.

Kristina Collins (Port Coquitlam, BC) has been named to the team for the third consecutive year, boasting a GPA of 3.70.

The senior, who studies Biomedical Physiology, was one of ten athletes this season who was named to the team for a third year.

Two Clan sophomores were also named to this year's Academic all-conference team; Katie Lowen (Lethbridge, AB) and Kia Van Laare (New Westminster, BC).

Lowen is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts at Simon Fraser and has a GPA of 3.39 while Van Laare is working towards a degree in Kinesiology and has earned a 3.27 GPA.
 
30 GNAC women were named to the team, and Annie DePuydt of Montana State Billings and Suzanna Ohlsen of Seattle Pacific have the conference's top GPA's with perfect 4.00 marks.

To be eligible for the academic team, student-athletes must earn a letter, have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 and be completing at least their second year of eligibility at their university.

The Clan women are back in action Thursday, February 28 at 7:00 p.m. in Monmouth, OR as they face the Western Oregon University Wolves.
