Nayo named WBCA All-American

Burnaby, BC - Simon Fraser University women's basketball forward Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe (Toronto, ON) has been named a Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-American.

It is the second All-American team she has been named to, as she also earned a spot on the Daktronics second team.

She was the one of 10 players named to the team, and the only player from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

This past season, Raincock-Ekunwe was part of a Clan team that made it to the "Sweet 16" of the NCAA tourament, finishing second in the west region and second in the GNAC.

Raincock-Ekunwe averaged 16.8 points per game and 12.4 rebounds per game in the 2012-13 season, and had a shooting percentage of 0.653, the highest in NCAA Division II.

This award comes at the conclusion of an impressive career for Raincock-Ekunwe with the Clan that began with a Canadian Interuniversity Sport title in her freshman year.

She played only three seasons in the GNAC, but was still able to break 12 conference records including the conference career double-doubles record of 48, earning 63 in her three year GNAC career.

After the 2012-13 regular season, the senior was named a first team conference all-star and the GNAC Player of the Year.
