San Diego, CA – The Simon Fraser University women’s golf team shaved 12 strokes off their score in round two of the Super San Diego Collegiate Women’s Championship, but they could not improve their position in the standings, finishing in 17th place.

The two day tournament was hosted by Point Loma Nazarene University.

Nicky Jordan (Sidney, BC) added three strokes to her first round score to finish with an 87 on Tuesday.  She still led the Clan with a two round total of 171.  She finished in a tie for 42nd.

Unlike round one where Jordan was the only member of the Clan to break 100, four golfers did so in round two.

Xyleen Haban (Surrey, BC) took four strokes off her score in round one, shooting a 98 today for a tournament total of 200.

Jane Edwards (Surrey, BC) came close to bettering her Clan teammate, shooting a 99 in the second round for a tournament total of 205.

Erin Shklanka (Winnipeg, MB) had the biggest improvement of any Clan golfer, taking 13-strokes off of her round one score as she shot a 98 today.

Andria Macado (Vancouver, BC) added two strokes to her round one score, shooting a 104 on day two for a tournament total of 206.

Cal Poly took first place in the team competition, shooting a 313 today to go along with a 321 in round one for a two round total of 634, 24 strokes better than second place Grand Canyon.

Laura Howard of Cal Poly won the tournament in a playoff over teammate Asia Adell after both golfers shot 156 for the tournament.

The SFU women’s golf team will be back in action on March 11 when they travel to Victoria, BC to take on the University of Victoria Vikes in a head-to-head match-up.
