Jordan leads the Clan after round one in San Diego

San Diego, CA – The Simon Fraser University women’s golf team are in 17th place after round one of the first tournament of their spring schedule, the Super San Diego Women’s Collegiate Golf Championship, hosted by Point Loma Nazarene University.

Cal Poly leads the team competition after day one of the two day, two round tournament, with a score of 321.

Morgan Thomas of Cal Poly sits atop the individual leaderboard, shooting a 76 on day one.

Nicky Jordan (Sidney, BC) finished round one in a tie for 26th place, shooting an 84, eight strokes behind the leader.  She had a consistent round carding a 42 on the front nine, and 42 on the back.  

The rest of the Clan struggled on day one as Jordan was the only SFU golfer to break 100.

Xyleen Haban (Surrey, BC) shot 52 on the front nine before shooting a 50 on the back for a first round total of 102.

Andria Machado (Vancouver, BC) matched Haban’s 102, shooting 49 on the front nine before falling back with a 53 on the back nine.

Jane Edwards (Surrey, BC) ended her round with a 106, shooting 52 on the front nine and 54 on the back while Erin Shklanka (Winnipeg, MB) shot a 56 on the front nine and a 55 on the back side for a first round total of 111.

Round two of the Super San Diego Women’s Collegiate Golf Championship will be played today at the Riverwalk Golf Course in San Diego, CA.
