Bev Preston starred at SFU in the mid-1970s and was a key member of the Canadian national program for most of the decade. After finishing an impressive collegiate career at SFU, Bev started for Canada at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, the first year women’s basketball was offered at the Games. She would go on to play for team Canada on multiple occasions, including at the Pan American Games, World Championships and the World Student Games.  
 
Bev transferred to SFU from UBC, where she was a key member of the Thunderbirds 1973 Canadian University championship team that posted a 24 – 1 record.  
 
Following her playing career Bev became a coach, first assisting at the University of Oregon before returning to SFU as head coach of the women’ program (1983-1987).
