SFU graduate Doug Brown started playing football as a high school senior, but his late start did not hold back his impressive football career. Brown’s success at SFU jump-started his career--in his senior year the defensive tackle had 55 tackles and 8.5 sacks leading to an NAIA All-American honour that year.

Brown was the first SFU graduate to sign with an NFL team, and then extended his career with an 11-year run in the CFL playing for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. During those 11 years, Brown was a seven time CFL All-Star, competed in three Grey Cup Championships and was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Canadian in 2010.
