Keith Watts served as the SFU men’s soccer head coach for 20 years from 1981 to 2001 and led teams to two back-to-back NAIA national championships in 1982 and 1983. Watts had five 18+ win seasons and is the program's all-time leader in career victories with 281.

Watts, who is SFU’s longest serving men’s soccer coach, coached numerous players who moved on to successful careers in the North American Soccer League, in European leagues and as members of the Canadian National team, including former pros Jeff Clarke, Steve Kindel, Craig Dalrymple, and Alan Koch.

On August 19, 2011 the honoured coach passed away in his home-country of Ireland.
