Leah was an outstanding track and field and cross country athlete with the Clan in the late 1980’s and following her collegiate career went on to world-wide success. She held the NAIA women’s 1,500m record time for six years and also held the Canadian mile record for numerous years.

She competed in three Olympic Games following her graduation from SFU, 1992, 1996 and 2000. In 1996 she placed fourth in the 1,500m race, less than half a second off of the bronze She also was a silver medalist at the 1999 Pan American Games.
