Mike Jackel played at SFU from 1978 to 1982 and in four years he scored 1,940 points to finish behind only Jay Triano as the school’s all-time scoring leader.  
 
In 1981-82, Mike enjoyed a season for the ages, averaging 28.9 points per game to lead the NAIA in scoring, at a time when there was no three-point line. Twice that season, Mike scored 47 points in a game to set the SFU record. He was named NAIA All-American Second Team, the first SFU men’s basketball player to earn this honour.  
 
Mike played professionally in Germany for 17 years, scoring 10,783 career points. He appeared in three European Championships and helped Germany win its first gold medal in 1993. Mike played in the 1992 Summer Olympics for Germany, competing against the original Dream Team.
