Tony Chursky was a goalkeeper for SFU when men’s soccer was a club sport at the university, and he went on to represent Canada internationally and have a successful professional career.  
 
The New Westminster, BC, native made an impressive debut in goal for Canada in 1973 against Poland, then the Olympic champions, while still an unknown amateur. He would go on to earn 19 caps with the national team, playing in three CONCACAF/FIFA World Cup Qualifying tournaments and competing for Canada at the 1975 Pan American Games. 
 
Tony joined the Seattle Sounders of the NASL in 1976 and later played for the California Surf, Chicago Sting and Toronto Blizzard. He played in 145 NASL regular season games and 11 playoff games.
