Box Score San Francisco, CA – The Simon Fraser University women's soccer team fell in their second and final game of non-conference action on
Saturday evening 2-1 against the Academy of Art Urban Knights.
Things looked good for the Clan after the first half of play, as SFU took a 1-0 lead into the locker room at halftime.
"We played really well in the first half, we controlled the play and outshot them," said Head Coach
Shelley Howieson. "We caught a bad break, playing against the
sun in the second half which made it tough. We did a lot of good things and just unfortunately let them back in the game. We're still in the process and we'll just have to re-group now and get ready for conference play."
The goal came for the Clan in the 41st minute as
Sophie D'Souza (Vancouver, BC) and
Devon Kollmyer (Lynden, WA) connected for an impressive goal which was the first goal of D'Souza's collegiate career, and Kollmyer's first assist.
Academy of Art tied things up in the 52nd minute with a goal from Louise Fillingham.
They home side scored the game winner in the 76th minute when Marley Sutter scored off a rebound.
The loss wraps up the non-conference portion of the Clan's schedule at 0-2.
SFU will now have a week off before beginning Great Northwest Athletic Conference play on
September 19 against the Montana State University Billings Yellowjackets in Billings, MT.
