Seattle – After winning its first four matches and getting off to its best start in two decades, Simon Fraser fell flat Friday afternoon against Biola University, losing in straight sets at the Seattle Pacific Invitational.
SFU lost 25-15, 25-21, 29-27.
Biola had a slight 40-32 advantage in kills but connected on 40 of 123 attempts compared to 32-of-136 for SFU. SFU had 31 errors in attack.
Biola also had an advantage in digs (65 to 57), assists (40 to 30) and blocks (9 to 5).
No player on SFU reached double figures in kills.
Brooke Dexter, who
was named AVCA Player of the Week, and Great Northwest Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, had 6 kills, 16 digs and 3 blocks.
SFU had six aces, led by
Bianca Te with 2. She added 17 digs.
In 2016, SFU won its first two matches, lost, then peeled off eight straight wins to start the season 10-1. The 2016 team went to the NCAA tournament.
SFU is back in action on Saturday as they face St Cloud State and Hawaii Pacific.
