PUEBLO, Colo.—
Taniela Feliciano-Takafua lost his first match of the season but SFU defeated the Colorado State University Pueblo wrestling team 21-19 in a dual Friday evening inside Massari Arena.
Feliciano-Takafua lost for the first time this season at 285 pounds to Gavin Nye in the final match of the dual. Nye used a first period takedown coupled with a point awarded for caution and a third period escape for a 3-1 win.
Feliciano-Takafua, who has won five overtime matches this season, has a 30-1 record. He is one of six SFU wrestlers to reach 30 wins in the NCAA era. Morgan Smith (2015-16, 2017-18), Ciaran Ball (2017-18, 2018-19), Cruz Velasquez (2015-16, 2017-18), Tyler Mclean (2015-16) and Sean Molle (2016-17) are the others.

Riley Prough (141),
Brent Hodgson (157),
Patrik Leder (174) and
Logan Nelson (184).
"It was nice to end the trip with a win as we start to focus on Regionals in 2 weeks," said head coach
Justin Abdou. "The guys got better each match on the trip and we are hoping we can build on this as we prepare for Regionals."
Prough pinned his opponent, Hodgson scored a 16-1 technical fall win and Nelson remains undefeated at 10-0 after a 14-2 major decision.
There were a couple of close victories with
Randy McDonald earning a 4-3 decision against Cyruss Meeks and
Patrik Leder capturing a 5-4 sudden victory versus Remington Winmill.

Rick Feroce lost a close decision to Ben Gould at 197 pounds. Gould recorded a second period takedown and in the final period earned an escape point for the win. Strong defense over the final minute of action helped Gould stave off Feroce.
At 149 pounds, SFU's
Jacob Alexander-Torres lost a 10-3 decision.
In the 165-pound match, SFU's
Magnus McCrackin lost a 16-6 major decision.
SFU forfeited the 125-pound bout.
SFU will compete in the NCAA Super 6 Regional tournament at Colorado Mesa on Feb. 26.
