SAN DIEGO – SFU dropped a pair of volleyball games on Saturday, losing 3-2 to San Francisco State and 3-0 to Point Loma to close out the Seaside Invitational.
SFU finished 1-4 in the Seaside Invitational and is now 3-6 overall. The team will play its home opener on Thursday, Sept. 8 at SFU's West Gym against Montana State Billings. Rally Towels and T-Shirts will be tossed into the crowd. Game time is 7:00 PM.

The San Francisco State volleyball team went the distance with Simon Fraser to win in five sets. After the Gators won the first set 25-19, SFU captured the next two 25-23 and 25-15. SF State responded and won the next two sets 25-12 and 15-9.
Simon Fraser lost in straight sets (25-18, 25-20, 25-10) to Point Loma Sea Lions Saturday evening inside Golden Gym.
Against SF State, Simon Fraser's attack was at its best during set three when they hit at .394 percent. Tied at 8-8, SFU used seven kills to take a 19-11 lead they would hold the rest of the way.
Down 2-1, the Gators responded in set four to tie. Down 5-4, SF State used a 10-1 run to take control and force a fifth set.
SF State started the fifth set with a 4-0 run, forcing SFU to take a timeout. Simon Fraser landed a kill coming out of the time out, but
the Gators maintained a cushion the rest of the way to close out the set and take the match.

In the evening match, the Sea Lions got out to a quick start against SFU and never trailed to take a one-set advantage.
Then trailing 3-4 in the second set, Point Loma scored nine-straight points and went on to win.
A 5-0 run start to the third kept the momentum on PLNU's side. With the tournament hosts leading by 10, 17-7, the Sea Lions went on a 6-0 run to clinch the victory.
SFU was held to a .069 hitting % or lower in each set. No SFU player reached double figures in kills in the evening contest but
Brooke Dexter and
Jocelyn Sherman had 11 kills each in the five-set loss to SF State.
Eva Person had 23 assists and
Serena Gentile recorded 21 assists in the morning loss.
