BURNABY, B.C. – The Simon Fraser Red Leafs out-shot, out-rebounded, and out-blocked the Western Oregon Wolves in their Great Northwest Athletic Conference women's basketball game Thursday in Monmouth, and it all added up to a 77-63 win for Canada's NCAA team. The result improved SFU's record to 10 wins and nine losses this season (2-4 GNAC). WOU fell to 9-8 (2-4 GNAC).
Senior guard/forward
Jessica Wisotzki (Langley, B.C.) made eight of 11 field goal attempts, including three of five from long distance, en route to a 21-point night that led the Red Leafs. She scored 14 in the second half.
Senior guard
Grace Killins (Coquitlam, B.C.) came off the bench to tally 20 points. She had a 4-for-7 performance at the three-point line and also added five rebounds and a pair of steals.
Juniors
Gemma Cutler (forward, North Vancouver, B.C.) and
Arman Dulai (guard, Surrey, B.C.) secured a game-high eight rebounds each. It was also a personal-best for Dulai. Cutler added two blocks to tie for the SFU lead with freshman forward
Sahnya Gill of Surrey, B.C. As a team, the Red Leafs had nine blocks, compared to one for the home side.
The Wolves scored the first five points of the second quarter to lead 22-20. But the Red Leafs answered back with a game-changing 17-2 run over a span of just over four minutes.

Rookie guard
Rachel Loukes (Prince George, B.C.) tied the game at 22-22 on a layup with 7:43 to go before halftime. Killins followed with a three-point shot before
Jessica Wisotzki scored a layup. Both baskets came after SFU grabbed offensive rebounds. The two posted consecutive baskets again with Killins converting a layup and
Jessica Wisotzki making a triple. On the next possession, Killins blocked a WOU shot before later scoring on a fast-break with the assist going to Cutler. Killins capped off the influential stretch with a three-pointer that put the Red Leafs in front 37-24 with 3:29 left in the half.
SFU took a 13-point advantage – 39-26 – into the break and continued to build on it during the third quarter. Killins' long-distance basket just over three minutes into the period increased the lead to 16 points at 48-32. Her layup with 3:42 on the clock in the third put the gap at 20 (58-38) for the first time. A
Jessica Wisotzki three midway through the fourth gave her squad a 77-50 lead, its largest of the contest.
The Red Leafs had an impressive shooting night, making 46 per cent (29 of 63) of their field goals, 42.9 per cent of their three-point attempts (9-21) and 90.9 per cent of their free throws (10-11). The performance was aided by SFU's dominance inside, which resulted in a 38-18 advantage in points in the paint, a plus-18 result (50-32) in rebounds, and a 24-7 edge in second-chance points.
WOU was unable to match the Red Leafs' shooting, and made a third of its field goals (23-69) and 35 per cent of its three-pointers (7-20).
SFU will look to complete a sweep of its weekend road swing on Saturday afternoon when it meets Saint Martin's in Lacey, Washington, at 3 p.m.
