From Snoqualmie to the Court
Born and raised in Snoqualmie, Washington, Gwen quickly gravitated toward basketball, where her physicality gave her an edge. Gwen’s journey has taken her from JUCO success at Bellevue College to NCAA Division II basketball at Cal State East Bay, and now to Simon Fraser University, where she’s ready to make her mark in her senior year.
 
A Family Foundation
Gwen credits her parents as her biggest inspirations, both on and off the court. Her father’s work ethic taught her the value of earning success through effort, while her mother’s support helped her develop confidence.
 
The Road to SFU
Gwen’s decision to join Simon Fraser University centered on the team’s welcoming atmosphere. “The kindness of everyone here is something you shouldn’t take for granted,” she says. As a senior, Gwen is excited to embrace her final year of college basketball with a focus on camaraderie.
 
Style of Play
Known for her physical strength, Gwen dominates on the boards. Offensively, she continues to build her presence, aiming to become a dependable scoring threat while maintaining her defensive reliability.
 
Achievements and Career Highlights
Gwen has had a decorated basketball journey, including earning Second Team honors in her second year at Bellevue College. During her time at Cal State East Bay, she achieved a career highlight with a 20-point, 12-rebound performance against San Bernardino. These accomplishments reflect her ability to rise to the occasion in competitive moments.
 
Balancing Passions: Basketball and Weightlifting
Outside of basketball, Gwen has developed a passion for weightlifting, which she describes as her “therapy.” Balancing both pursuits has been a rewarding challenge, as each contributes to her dedication to mental health. “When something’s really important to you, you make the time for it,” she says. For Gwen, weightlifting and basketball go hand in hand, pushing her to stay consistent.

Beyond basketball, she aspires to pursue a career in sports marketing, where she can stay connected to the world of athletics while exploring her passion for media and communications.
