The Simon Fraser University men's and women's wresting teams are finished their 2013 collegiate seasons, but many athletes have made the move to club wrestling and were competing at the Canadian nationals last weekend.
Many Clan wrestlers made their 2013 club debuts at the 2013 Asics Junior and Senior Canadian Championships.
On the women's side Women's Collegiate Wrestling Association champions
Danielle Lappage and
Justina DiStasio each placed second in their individual events, Lappage in the 63kg weight-class and DiStasio in the 72kg weight-class.
Clan alumna
Stacie Anaka won the Canadian senior championship in her weight class as she was victorious against Megan Buydens of Saskatoon to win the gold in the 67kg event.
Anaka was one win away from qualifying for the London Olympics at the championships in 2012.
The Clan men's team was also well-represented at the event as NCAA Div II Championship participant
Sunny Dhinsa won the junior championship and came second in the senior competition in the 120kg weight-class.
In the junior final he beat out SFU teammate
Sean Molle, who earned second place at the event.
The Clan's
Parmvir Dhesi was another national champion for the club, winning the 97kg weight-class in the junior division.
In the senior division Clan athletes picked up more medals as
Arjun Gill won the silver in the 96kg event, and
Manvir Sahota won bronze in the 84kg weight-class.
