ARCATA, Calif. – Simon Fraser University suffered its worst defeat in the NCAA era, losing on the road to No. 15 Humboldt State 57-0 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference football action Saturday.
 
The win by Humboldt State clinched a share of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference championship as they improved to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in GNAC action. The Lumberjacks will have an opportunity to capture an outright conference title with a victory next week on the road versus Dixie State.
 
Simon Fraser, winless in seven games this season, suffered its worst loss since losing by 52 points to Idaho State, 66-14, on Oct. 11, 2014.
 
HSU exploded for 631-yards of offence and led 35-0 at the half. Simon Fraser had 167-yards of total offence.
 
"Humboldt State is at a point in their program's development that we need to get to," said Clan head coach Kelly Bates. "Just two years ago they were 0-11. They have invested time and resources into their program and facilities; they have a great on field product, and a great game day atmosphere. My hat is off to them."
 
"I was very proud of the fight in our team today," Bates continued. "Regardless of the score they did not quit. They laid everything on the line. For that I am grateful."
 
The Clan plays its final home game of the season Friday, November 6 at Swangard Stadium beginning at 6:00 PM.
