PORTLAND, Ore. – For the second straight year Simon Fraser University linebacker Jordan Herdman was the unanimous repeat selection as  Great Northwest Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year and the Clan placed six players on the All-Conference team.

Herdman was the coaches' selection for Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. The junior led the GNAC and finished the regular season ranked fifth in Division II with an average of 14.8 tackles per game. He also led the league in tackles for loss and was ranked third in Division II with eight solo tackles per game. Herdman's season was capped by a 26-tackle performance against Humboldt State on Oct. 31, one short of his own GNAC single game record. He set a conference record with 17 solo tackles in that contest.

Herdman was named to the All-Conference First Team along with his brother, linebacker Justin Herdman, defensive lineman Quinn Horton, and offensive lineman Michael Couture. All were unanimous selections by conference coaches.  Selected to the All-Conference Second Team were running back Ante Milanovic-Litre and wide receiver Justin Buren.

"Jordan is a special player and to earn this honour in back to back years speaks to his dedication on and off the field," said Clan head coach Kelly Bates. "Both Jordan and his brother, Justin, are unique individuals and really the heart of our defence. Upfront Quinn was our leader and the brains behind organizing our defence on the field."

Justin Herdman finished third in the conference in tackles with 83 (9.2 per game). He had 13 tackles for a loss and 3.5 sacks. Horton had seven tackles for a loss and one sack.

Couture was a First Team selection for the second year in a row.

"I was very blessed to have Mike on the offensive line this year," said Bates. "He is what you want in a student-athlete – he's a leader on and off the field, he has an excellent work ethic and he lifts up the people around him. He is going to have a long career at the next level and I look forward to watching him play for years to come."

Milanovic-Litre moved from fullback to tailback midway through the season and ran for more than 100 yards twice during the season, with a career-high 157 yards against Azusa Pacific in the season finale and and 142 yards against Western Oregon. Milanovic-Litre also finished third in the conference in receiving with 38 receptions for 272 yards.

Buren was fourth in the GNAC with 36 receptions for 644 yards and three touchdowns. He was second in the conference averaging four catches and 72.6 yards per game.
