SPOKANE. – Taniela Feliciano-Takafua continued his torrid start to the wrestling season, ripping through the heavyweight class at the Spokane Collegiate Open on Sunday at the Spokane Convention Centre to capture the weight class and remain undefeated this season.
 
Feliciano-Takafua claimed the heavyweight class with five wins in a tournament that featured 23 teams and hundreds of wrestlers.
 
Feliciano-Takafua has won three tournaments and is unbeaten to start the season running his record to 14-0.
 
Feliciano-Takafua opened with a bye, then won close decisions over Rafael Leapaga of Providence (Mont.) 12-7 and over Travis Adams of Montana State-Northern, 3-1.
 
The semi-final match went to a tiebreaker and Feliciano-Takafua beat Kyle Richards of Clackamas Community College, 3-2. Feliciano-Takafua and Richards are familiar opponents. Feliciano-Takafua beat Richards 7-3 in the final of the Mike Clock Open last weekend.
 
In the Spokane final, Feliciano-Takafua won a 5-4 decision over KC Buday of Providence.
 
In the 125-pound weight class, SFU's Aizayah Yacapin lost 8-4 to Nic Aguilar (Clackamas Community College) in the final to finish second. Yakapin pinned Thomas Lavigne (Clackamas Community College) 2:42 into their semi-final match to advance, after two byes and an injury forfeit to start the tournament.
 
SFU heavyweight Raphael Masella pinned Blake Larson (Clackamas Community College) at the 4:12 mark of the consolation final. Masella's only loss came at the hands of KC Buday in the quarterfinal, when he was pinned four minutes into the match.
 
Masella had four pins in the tournament and went 7-1. He carries a 12-4 record this season.

Riley Prough and Logan Nelson did not compete in the tournament.
