COURTNEY TRIANO ENDOWMENT
Est. 2015

Courtney Triano was a NAIA All-American swimmer and Terry Fox Inspirational Athlete of the Year winner at SFU. A native of Tsawwassen, B.C., Courtney is the daughter of SFU Hall of Famer Jay Triano. This endowment supports female varsity swimmers who demonstrate dedication to teammates and to the sport, and helps young women pursue their dreams and to become tomorrow's leaders.

DEANNE SCHWEITZER ENDOWMENT
Est. 2014

Deanne Schweitzer was a NAIA All-American swimmer and a member of SFU NAIA Champion women’s team in 1991. A native of Kamloops, B.C., Deanne embraces her First Nations heritage and her T’it’q’et roots. She is a businesswoman and entrepreneur, former Lulu Lemon executive and founder and co-owner of TurF, a community-centric gathering spot in Kitsilano. In 2014, she established the annual Deanne Schweitzer award for a member of the SFU Varsity Swim Team, with preference given to Aboriginal student-athletes.

THE WRIGHT ENDOWMENT
Est. 2013

The Wright Endowment was established in 2013 with a generous gift by SFU Swimming alumnus Dr. Debbie Wright, who swam at SFU from 1995-1998. She earned NAIA All-American honours each year and she was a member of the 1997 NAIA Champion women's team. She then attended and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto, earning her Doctor of Chiropractic.

THE BLANKSTEIN ENDOWMENT
Est. 2007

The Blankstein Endowment for Swimming was established at SFU in 2007 through a generous donation from Mr. Gordon Blankstein.

BARBARA (JONES) FRIESEN ENDOWMENT
Est. 2006

The endowment was established in memory of Barbara (Jones) Friesen through generous donations from Ken Sully and Rick Friesen that were matched by the SFU Swimming Advisory Council and the Burnaby Mountain Matching Program. Barbara held the 100-metre breaststroke record at the age of 12, while swimming for New West Y-Kings. In 1971, she swam with the 1971 NAIA Champion men's team at SFU. The following year she was team manager. Preference for this award is given to international student-athletes.

JOE VIEIRA ENDOWMENT

Est. 2005

The Joe Vieira endowment was established in support of the SFU swim program by local business operator Joe Vieira and his company JSV Architectural Veneering and Millwork

KELLY FANKS MEMORIAL SWIMMING ENDOWMENT
Est. 1999

Established in 1999 by friends and family in loving memory of SFU swim alumnus Kelly Franks, who competed on the swim team at SFU from 1976 to 1980, and was a member of five NAIA Champion men's teams. He later went on to coach, with his most successful years coaching spent with the North Delta Sunfish. Preference is given to student-athletes affiliated with the BC Summer Swimming Association.

Doug Perks originally came from Toronto to Vancouver in 1966 to attend SFU and compete in track and field but Paul Savage, the first head coach of the school’s swimming program, saw Perks in the pool one day and ended up offering Perks a swim scholarship. He completed a business degree and his company based in North Vancouver operates two successful businesses involved in aquatics. Each year, DB Perks Group contributes around $75,000 to support a variety of swim organizations, including a bursary for SFU swimmers.
