Portland, OR - Simon Fraser University men's soccer player
Lucas Ferritto (Hamilton, ON) has been named the Red Lion offensive player of the week in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
Ferritto had two goals in two games last weekend, helping the Clan to a pair of victories to open the season at 2-0 in non-conference play.
The senior forward scored the first goal of the season for the Clan in SFU's game against Cal-State Easy Bay in Hayward, CA on
Thursday evening, helping the Clan to a 2-1 victory.
On
Saturday in San Francisco, CA, Ferritto scored the game winner for his second goal in as many games to help the Clan move to 2-0 on the season with a victory over the Holy Names Hawks.
The strong start is a good sign for Ferritto, who returns to the Clan after a 2012 season in which he missed time due to injury. His two goals this past week match his total output for the season last year when he played in 12 games.
In 2011, Ferritto contributed to a potent Clan offence with two goals and three assists in 19 games.
Non-conference play will move to Terry Fox Field this week as the Clan are at home to host Hawaii Pacific University on
Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and Trinity Lutheran University on
Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
