Mike Belle (Burnaby, BC) has been named the Red Lion Golfer of the Week in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference for men's golf.
Belle, a senior, was the top GNAC golfer at last week's Golfweek Invitational tournament in Bend, OR.
The Clan captain started strong with a 78 in his first round and a 73 in his second, before finishing with an 80 to come in at 14th on the leader board.
In his first tournament of the year, the Western Washington Invitational, Belle finished tied for seventh with a mark of 217 and a low-round score of 70.
Entering this week's CSU-Chico Wildcat Classic, Belle is second on the team in stroke average at 74.7, just over one stroke back of
Kevin Vigna (Coquitlam, BC) who is averaging 73.3 strokes per round.
This is the fourth time in his collegiate career that Belle has earned the award.
The team's tournament in Chico, CA this week will mark the end of the fall schedule for the men.
The spring portion of the schedule will commence in
February 2014 at the CSU-San Marcos Invitational in San Diego, CA.
That tournament will mark the beginning of a five tournament spring schedule for the Clan that will culminate at the GNAC Championship at the Coeur d'Alene Golf Resort in Coeur d'Alene, ID where the Clan will try to qualify for their first appearance in the NCAA Regional Championship since the program joined the NCAA.
