Burnaby, BC - Simon Fraser University men's soccer player Chris Bargholz has been named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Year.

The junior from Fuessen, Germany appeared in 12 regular season games for the Clan scoring four goals and four assists throughout the conference schedule.

A 2012 GNAC second team all-star, Bargholz was unanimously selected to the GNAC fisrt all-star team in 2013 to go with his individual award.

The midfielder is known for his aggressive play, and impressive foot-speed and will return in 2014 for his senior season.

His teammates Magunus Kristensen and Alex Rowley also picked up individual awards winning teh GNAC Freshman of the Year and the GNAC Defensive Player of the Year awards.

The Clan soccer team has now advanced past the first round of play in the NCAA Division II national championships and plays University of California - Los Angeles at 7:00pm on Saturday, November 16.
