Burnaby, BC - Coming off their victory on Sunday in the "Elite Eight", four Simon Fraser University men's soccer players have been named to the Daktronics All-West Region team.

Simon Fraser placed a midfielder and a defender on each team, as Chris Bargholz (Fuessen, Germany) and Magnus Kristensen (Stavanger, Norway) were voted to the first team while Alex Rowley (Maple Ridge, BC) and Marco Voegeli (Lenzerheide, Switzerland) made the second team.

Bargholz, a junior midfielder, makes the squad after a season in which he was voted a first team conference all-star and the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Year.

In 16 games so far this season for the Clan, Bargholz has four goals and six assists for 14 points including a pair of assists thus far in the NCAA Tournament.

Kristensen was named freshman of the year in the GNAC after his first collegiate campaign.

The 6'3 defender has started all 22 games for the Clan so far this season, the only player on the team to do so.

In addition to helping lead a Clan defence that has allowed just 17 goals against all season, Kristensen has also chipped in offensively with three goals and an assist.

Rowley earned a spot on the second team after a season in which he earned GNAC Defensive Player of the Year honours.

In 21 games so far this season, the sophomore midfielder has two goals, both coming in the post-season, and seven assists for 11 points.

Senior captain Voegeli rounds out the Clan's selections to the team.

Voegeli has been a fixture of the Clan's defence for three years.

In 2013, the Clan captain had three assists while partnering with first team all-star Kristensen to help the Clan allow just 17 goals against thus far.

Players are nominated for the Daktronics All-Region team by their respective schools and the region's Sports Information Directors vote on the squads.
