Nampa, ID - The Simon Fraser University track and field teams finished the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championship meet with another conference title as Sarah Sawatzky (Chilliwack, BC) won the 800-metre in a time of 2:08.57.

The Clan also won a conference championship in the distance medley relay on Friday.

"I am really impressed with our freshman and really our whole team," said Head Coach Brit Townsend. "Sarah has been battling fatigue the last few weeks and we were concerned about whether or not she would be able to pull through. She was great in the DMR and in her heat and then she just took off in the final. She went out with the leader and hung on to her. Sarah took over and no one was able to catch her. She was thrilled. It was a great way for her to finish off her conference career."

Sawatzky beat out Seattle Pacific's McKayla Fricker who was ranked third in the nation in the 800-metre race going into the conference meet.
