Kenji Yamashita is the SFU Student Athlete Advisory Committee Athlete of the Week for January 12, 2015.

At the recent Olympia Duals, Yamashita, at 149-pounds, went 2-0 Saturday. He was undefeated at the two-day dual meet, winning two matches on Friday as well, finishing 4-0.
 
Yamashita was tied 3-3 with junior Jaywayne Fombrough (WP) in the first round when they went into a scramble and Yamashita managed to catch Fombrough in a cradle and pinned him with 10 seconds left. Yamashita's final match of the day against sophomore Orlando Guerra (NMHU) was tied 4-4 in overtime when he managed to score two points converting a single leg attack to a double for a 6-4 win with two seconds remaining in the extra period.
 
"Kenji is competing really hard and showing incredible composure in close matches against more experienced wrestlers," said head coach Justin Abdou. "His ankle was bothering him during the final match but he pushed through and he had the presence to switch tactics to his advantage to come out on top."
