Portland, OR – The Simon Fraser University indoor track and field team continues to pick up conference honours, as both Lindsey Butterworth and the men’s distance medley relay team have been named Great Northwest Athletic Conference Players of the Week.

It is Butterworth’s second such honour this season, earning her first award two weeks ago after posting an NCAA Division II leading time in the mile.

This past weekend at the University of Washington Invitational in Seattle she ran a second Division II leading time, this time in the 800-metres, posting a time of 2:06.56.

The time, which is the GNAC leader and an NCAA Division II automatic qualifying standard, ranks second in GNAC history.

Butterworth also ran the final leg for the Clan women’s DMR team which ran an NCAA Division II leading time of 11:40.01, which ranks fifth in GNAC history.

The men’s distance medley relay team of Travis Vugteveen, Joel Webster, Cameron Proceviat and Marc-Antoine Rouleau set a GNAC record at the meet with a time of 9:54.66.

The time was also an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark, and ranks sixth in the nation so far this season.

Three of the men also ran provisional qualifying times in their individual events, Proceviat in the 800-metres and Vugteveen and Rouleau in the mile.

Proceviat’s time of 1:52.00 ranks eighth in Division II this season, and sixth on the GNAC all-time list. Vugteveen’s mile of 4:09.24 ranks fifth in Division II this season and fourth in GNAC history, while Rouleau’s time of 4:09.51 ranks sixth on both lists.

The Clan track team posted a total of nine qualifying standards at the meet, bringing them to 18 so far this season.
