Clinic Assistant Program

SFU Sports Medicine's Clinic Assistant Program allows kinesiology students to apply the knowledge they've gained in the classroom to practice. Want to become a clinic assistant? Fill out an online application form today. We accept new students to join our team for the Fall & Spring terms.

Role of a clinic assistant
- Preventative and supportive taping
- Assist in the athletic injury rehabilitation in clinic and field settings
- Provide first aid and assist with emergency care
- Help to ensure that the student-athletes can compete in a safe environment
- Help with athletic injury assessments and observe treatments
- Help keep the clinic organized and stocked
Note: The role may include, but is not limited to, these responsibilities.

Requirements

- Standard First Aid and CPR C or an equivalent course
- Completed BPK 241 or an equivalent taping course
- Completed the following:  APPLY NOW

Important Dates

Fall Term
Application Closing Date: August 15
Orientation: 1st week of September (TBA)
Start Date: 2nd  week of September
Mandatory Coverage: SFU Wrestling Tournament (November TBA)
End Date: 4th week of November

Winter Term
Application Closing Date: December 15
Orientation: 2nd week of January
Start Date: 2nd week of January
Mandatory Coverage: TBA
End Date: 1st week of April

Student Trainer Program

Kinesiology clinic assistants who become student trainers are a huge asset to our Sports Medicine team. We rely on these students to be at all practices for acute injuries, to assist with competition coverage and team travel.

Requirements
    - Completion of BPK 241 or equivalent
    - First aid, CPR & AED training
    - One term completed in clinic rotation
    - Good time management and organization skills
