STRENGTH & CONDITIONING
INTERNSHIP


Simon Fraser University Strength & Conditioning Internship will provide hands on experience in the field of weight training and conditioning of varsity student athletes Each term will be a 16 week unpaid internship. Candidates will receive instruction and mentorship under the SFU Strength and Conditioning Coaches.

Work Terms
  • Term 1: Fall (September – December)
  • Term 2: Spring (January – April
  • Term 3: Summer (May – August)

Work Hours: Interns will work 10-15 hours per week, with most work concentrated in the afternoon and evening hours

Responsibilities:
Strength & Conditioning Interns are responsible for all duties related to the administration of this program as assigned by the Head Coach of Strength and Conditioning. Specific responsibilities include:
  • Assist Strength Coaches in all aspects of implementing strength, speed/agility, conditioning, flexibility, mobility, and recovery protocols for the all SFU Varsity teams.
  • Set up and break down of equipment for daily training sessions
  • Daily weight room supervision
  • Entering data for individual workouts and testing results.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Completion or current pursuit of an undergraduate or graduate degree in Kinesiology or related course of study
  • Strong understanding of a strength and conditioning environment
  • Ability to be assertive
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends (expect 10-15 hrs/week)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced athletic environment
  • Current First Aid CPR & AED certification (provide certificate)
  • Working towards certifications from a certified strength and conditioning governing body.
