Signing with the Red Leafs

When the time comes and you and the Head Coach agree SFU Athletics would be a good fit for you, you will be issued one of the following agreements from the Compliance Office:
  • Student-Athlete Agreement (no athletic scholarship): this agreement will outline the expectations of you as a student-athlete during your time at SFU.
  • Athletic Financial Aid Agreement & Declaration of Understanding (receiving athletic scholarship): this agreement will also outline the expectations of you as a student-athlete and additionally will outline NCAA rules around receiving financial aid as there are limits to how much a student may receive in total. Please note the following NCAA rules when signing an athletic financial aid agreement with a NCAA institution
    • It is not permissible for NCAA Coaches and institutional staff to have in-person on- or off-campus contact with you on the day that you sign.
    • It is not permissible to sign an athletic aid agreement with more than one NCAA institution.
    • Once you sign an athletic financial aid agreement with a NCAA institution, all coaches and staff from other NCAA member institutions are no longer permitted to have communication with you, your family members, and your coaches. The NCAA calls this Contact Prohibition.
      • Please see here for SFU Athletics appeal process on Contact Prohibition.
