Box Score Burnaby – B.C. The Simon Fraser University Clan added another win to their record as they beat the Western Washington University Vikings 2-1.
“Today was not our best performance. Our attitude and mentality all week in training was not good enough and it carried over into today's match” said Coach
Alan Koch who earned his 100
th victory as a collegiate coach this afternoon.
“I am glad that we pulled off the win, but we need to be better if we want to achieve big success this season”.
The Vikings took an early lead when Andrew Weishaar scored his third of the season to put WWU up 1-0.
The Clan kept battling but could not find the back of the net during the first half.
After some hard work on the offensive end,
Justin Wallace (Kamloops, B.C.) tied the game for SFU when he intercepted a pass and blasted a kick from 20 yards out to tie the game at one.
But it was in the 75
th minute of the game that
Ryan Dhillon (North Delta, BC) became SFU's hero and put home the winning goal of the game.
WWU would not come back from the 2-1 score.
With this win, the Clan's record improves to 10-1on the season and 7-1 in conference play.
SFU will be back in action on Terry Fox Field October 11, 2012 at 5:00 against the University of Mary.
