John Buchanan
JOHN BUCHANAN MEMORIAL GOLF ENDOWMENT
Est. 2017

John Buchanan was part of the fabric of SFU Athletics and Recreation for 50 years. He energized the campus community and exemplified SFU's institutional ambition to be better tomorrow than we are today. John believed in the potential of our student-athletes and created an exceptional student-athlete experience during his tenure at SFU. John was the head coach of the Golf program, but he also established the Men's Soccer program at SFU and led the team to the NAIA Championship in 1976. John also played an instrumental role in the creation of SFU's world champion pipe band. John passed away in 2017 at the age of 77.

Doug Roxburgh Golf Endowment

DOUG ROXBURGH GOLF ENDOWMENT

Est. 2015

Established by Doug Roxburgh, a member of the golf team who graduated from SFU in 1976 with a Bachelor of Arts in commerce, and his many friends, this endowment supports student-athletes who thrive and excel in golf and who aspire to become leaders within our community. Doug Roxburgh is one of Canada's most accomplished amateur golfers. He won the first of his 13 B.C. Amateur Championships in 1969, at the age of 17 and he has won the Canadian Amateur Championship four times. He is a member of the Canadian Golf, B.C. Golf, Pacific Northwest Golf, SFU Athletics and B.C. Sports Hall of Fames.

This endowment was established by many former golfers at SFU, who passionately believe in the value and benefits of the sport. These individuals wanted to establish a legacy for future student-athletes, providing them with the opportunity to pursue the sport at the university level.
