10/7/2012 1:58:00 AM

Box Score Fairbanks, AK – The Simon Fraser University women's volleyball team dropped their conference match to the University of Alaska Fairbanks three sets to one.

Alanna Chan (Port Moody, BC) led the Clan in digs, picking up 23 during the match.

“Alanna played great for us tonight,” said coach Lisa Sulatycki.  “We had some close sets, the difference was just that Alaska managed to earn more kills than us tonight”.

Jessica Young (Vancouver, BC) led all Clan athletes with 13 kills on the night.  Katie Forsyth (Delta, BC) and Danielle Curtis (North Vancouver, BC) also contributed nine kills each.

The first two sets were won by Alaska, but the back and forth play kept the score tight in both sets.

In the third set the Clan managed to pull away 25-22 for the win, but Alaska bounced back to win the fourth set 25-17 in convincing fashion.

With the loss the Clan's GNAC record drops to 0-8 on the season.

The Clan volleyball squad is back in action October 10, 2012 against Capilano University at 7:00pm in the West Gym.
