Box Score

Burnaby, BC – The Simon Fraser University volleyball team fell to the Douglas College Royals, three sets to two, in their final home game of the 2012 season.

Jessica Young (Vancouver, BC) led all Clan players in kills with 18 on the night while the Royals' Victoria Hocking was the overall kill leader with 19.

“I managed to score a lot of points tonight, but it was a team effort,” said Young.  “Overall, I think that we needed to play with a bit more heart and do a better job of supporting our teammates."

The Clan started out strong winning the first set 25-18, but Douglas would come back in the second set and win 25-21.

It took a little bit extra but the Clan showed character in the third set, winning it 26-24 to take a two sets to one lead.

Douglas would come right back winning the fourth set 25-23 before edging the Clan in the fifth and final set, 15-13 to take the match, three sets to two.

Play was back and forth all night between the two teams as every set was closely contested.

“It's the end of a long season and we need to do a better job of staying motivated and hungry to compete,” continued Young.  “I think that is where we faltered.  We were a little frantic out there tonight, and need to be more engaged if we are going to win our last two games of the season."

The Clan women will embark on their last road trip of the season where they will face Montana State University–Billings and Seattle Pacific.

Their next match is this Thursday, November 15, at 7:00 p.m. in Billings, MT where they will take on the Yellowjackets.
