Box Score Belmont, CA- In the final game of the Notre Dame de Namur Thanksgiving Classic, the Simon Fraser University men's basketball team defeated the Notre Dame de Namur University Argonauts, 75 -67.

“We came out with a lot more passion and energy tonight in the first half," said assistant coach Chris Cline.  "Notre Dame came out and really played well in the second half. We took their best punches but really stood our ground and came up with some great defensive stops down the stretch to secure the win.”

Bouncing back from last night's loss, four Clan members exceeded double digits in points in the victory.

Elijah Matthews (Washington, DC) led the Clan with 19 points while Anto Olah (Australia) contributed 12 and Taylor Dunn (Vancovuer, WA) added 10.

Earning a double double, David Gebru (Seattle, WA) also grabbed 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Leading NDNU, Wesley White scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds.

Maintaining control throughout the first half, the Clan never allowed the Argonauts to gain the lead.

However, NDNU did chip away at the Clan lead and tied up the score on two occasions.

With the score tied at 20, the Clan took off on a 16-3 run, taking their biggest of the game into the locker rooms, holding a 36-23 lead over the Argonauts at halftime.

NDNU came into the second half recharged starting play on a 7-0 run, cutting SFU's lead to six.

With 12:37 to play, after two converted free-throws by Micah Dunhour, NDNU gained their first lead of the game.

The next several minutes proved to be a tough contest as neither team was able to build a comfortable lead.

Despite the late Argonaut effort, a tip-in from Ibrahim Appiah (Montreal, QB) kick started a 12-5 Clan run to finish out the game and ensure the victory.

The win improves the Clan's record to 5-1 on the season, heading into SFU's conference opener next Saturday, December 1 against Western Washington.

The Clan will host the defending NCAA division II National Champion Vikings in the West Gym at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

At halftime, the Clan will hold a ceremoney to honour former head coach of the Clan, Stan Stewardson.

Admission is free for SFU students.
