BURNABY, B.C. – Simon Fraser University football alumnus Spencer Watt was crowned a 2012 Grey Cup champion as his Canadian Football Team, the Toronto Argonauts, won the 100th Grey Cup.
Watt spent three years with the Clan as a wide receiver before being drafted to the Argonauts in 2010.
The Windsor Secondary graduate was a third round pick (18th overall) in the 2010 Canadian Draft.
2012 marks his third season with in Toronto, and his first Grey Cup Championship.
In his career with the Argonauts Watt has made 77 catches, covered 970 yards and averages 12.6 yards per game. He has scored three touchdowns in his professional career and his longest catch was 50 yards.
In his senior year with the Clan, the North Vancouver native played in seven games and caught 14 passes for 231 yards and two touchdowns.
This was the Argonauts 16th Grey Cup win since they were founded in 1873.
SFU has the record for the most players selected in the Canadian Football Draft since 1965, and currently there are seven Clan alumni active in the CFL, including Watt.
