Burnaby, BC - The Simon Fraser University Clan volleyball team could not come up with a win on Saturday night in the West Gym as the Montana State University Billings Yellowjackets defeated SFU three sets to none.

Amanda Renkema (Delta, BC) led the Clan with 11.5 points and nine kills in the game.

"The first two sets were disappointing," said Renkema.  "We did not play to the best of our abilities at all.  The last set was bittersweet.  We fought hard and played well but just could not finish."

Victoria Senges (Surrey, BC) finished the game with 16 assists while Alanna Chan (Port Moody, BC) had nine digs for SFU.  

MSUB controlled the first set, going on a 6-1 run midway through the set to open up a 15-7 lead, eventually winning 25-10.

The score was closer in the second set, with SFU trailing by just one point early on at 8-7.  MSUB finished the set on a 17-9 run though to take the second set and a 2-0 lead in the game.

The Clan jumped out to a 9-4 lead in the third set but the Yellowjackets came back to tie it at 12.  The set went down to the wire but MSUB outscored SFU 13-10 down the stretch to take the 25-22 set victory and the straight sets win in the match.

With this loss, SFU's record drops to 2-5 on the season and 0-2 in conference play.

The Clan will be back in action Monday night when they travel to Abbotsford to take on the University of Fraser Valley.
