Burnaby, BC - The Simon Fraser University women's swimming team defeated the University of Alaska Fairbanks Nanooks 75-44 and the University of Puget Sound Loggers 87-32 in dual meet action at the Paul and Margaret Savage Pool on
Saturday.
The SFU men's team defeated UPS 146-111.
Of the 28 events that took place on the day, the Clan swimmers on both the men's and women's side won 21 of them.
The Clan relay teams each won in their respective 200-metre medley relay events to kick off the meet.
Carman Nam (Hong Kong, China) won two races for SFU, taking the women's 800-metre freestyle in a time of 9:22.84 and the 200-metre butterfly 2:24.85.
Two men won multiple races for the Clan at the meet as well.
Dimitar Ivanov (Coquitlam, BC) was first victorious in the men's 800-metre freestyle, winning in a time of 8:39.87.
Ivanov won again in the 200-metre backstroke, swimming in a time of 2:01.96.
Julian Monks' (Whitby, ON) first win of the day came in the 100-metre breaststroke, winning by nearly eight seconds in a time of 1:05.85.
His second win was even more dominate, winning the 200-metre breaststroke by over 20 seconds, posting a time of 2:24.38.
Other Clan women who won at the meet were
Alexandria Schofield (Coquitlam, BC), Kristine Lawson (Coquitlam, BC), Courtney Triano (Tsawwassen, BC),
Nicole Cossey (Innisfail, AB),
Grace Ni (Prince George, BC) and
Brianna Bailey (Red Deer, AB).
Other Clan winners on the men's side were

Paolo Olavario (Toronto, ON),
Hans Heyer (Frankfurt, Germany),
Alex Duguay (Montreal, QC),
Kevin Nickerson (Calgary, AB) and
Ciaran McDonnell (Pitt Meadows, BC).
The Clan men will be back in action on
January 18 in Claremont, CA against Pomona-Pitzer while the Clan women will take on Pomona-Pitzer and California Baptist.
