Box Score Ellensburg, WA - The Simon Fraser University women's soccer team travelled to visit the 10th ranked team in NCAA Division II's West Region, the Central Washington Wildcats on
Saturday, losing the match 4-1.
It was the second time in as many matches that the Clan went up against a ranked opponent, as SFU faced the number one ranked team in the west, the Western Washington Vikings on
Thursday.
Three first half goals from the home side and one early in the second half put Central Washington ahead with a four goal lead.
Savanna Moorehouse opened the scoring in the 11th minute when her header off a corner kick beat Clan goalkeeper
Simone Tessler (Eugene, OR) to her right.
Danielle Brandli made it 2-0 for the home side in the 18th minute scoring from four yards out and the Wildcats made it 3-0 with Moorehouse's second goal of the match in the 41st minute to send the team's to the locker room with CWU leading 3-0.
Central Washington added another goal in the 48th minute, Brandli's second of the match before the Clan responded.
In the 55th minute,
Ali Trenter (Coquitlam, BC) scored her first of the season to get the Clan on the board, with
Abbey Vogt (Burnaby, BC) recording the assist.
Trenter's goal would be the lone goal of the match for the Clan, as the Wildcat's three goal lead held up.
Tessler started in net for the Clan and made two saves in the game. She was replaced in the 52nd minute by
Karm Jawandha (Delta, BC) who made her first collegiate appearance in net after Tessler was forced to leave the game with an injury.
With the loss, the Clan's record falls to 0-8-2 on the season, 0-6-2 in conference play.
The Clan will be back in action on
Thursday when they travel to Monmouth, OR to face another regionally ranked opponent, the seventh ranked Western Oregon Wolves.
