Box Score Burnaby, BC - The Simon Fraser University volleyball was looking to get a win against the first place Alaska Anchorage Seawolves on Thursday night, but lost in straight sets 25-21, 25-22 and 25-14.
Devon May (Robert's Creek, BC) and
Mackenzie Dunham (Lloydminster, AB) led the Clan with nine and eights kills in the game.
Two Clan players reached double figures in digs with
Alanna Chan (Port Moody, BC) recording 12 and
Kelsey Robinson (Delta, BC) 10.
"We started the game off with great energy but we couldn't hold on and lost our mental focus when they got the momentum on their side," said Chan.
Brooklyn Gould-Bradbury (Seattle, WA) led the Clan with 20 assists in the game while
Tamara Nipp (Vancouver, BC) had 11.
The first set was hard fought as SFU took an early 10-2 lead but the Seawolves took the momentum and came back to win 25-21.
It was the same story in the second as the Clan had a 16-9 lead but the top ranked Seawolves responded and took the set 25-22.
Anchorage took an early 7-2 lead and never looked back as they won the third set 25-14 and swept the Clan three sets to none.
With the loss, the Clan's record drops to 7-6 on the season, 2-5 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play.
SFU will host the University of Alaska Fairbanks on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in West Gym. The game will be the second half of the Clan's Breast Cancer Awareness Day, after the day kicks off at the Clan football game at 2:00 p.m. versus Central Washington. Donations will be collected throughout the day.
