Box Score Burnaby, BC - The Simon Fraser University men's soccer team recorded their third straight win on Saturday afternoon on Terry Fox Field, defeating the Montana State University Billings Yellowjackets 7-0.

It was the third straight game the Clan have won 7-0 as SFU has outscored opponents 21-0 over their last three matches.

"This game was a tale of two halves," said Head Coach Alan Koch. "We were disappointed with our first half performance, and really challenged the players to pick it up in the second half. We got exactly the response that we wanted from the lads. The guys are getting better and better as the season goes along. We are very satisfied with the performances, and the results this week. It is very rare that you score seven goals in a game against a quality opponent. We did that twice this week. We will enjoy the victory for now, and will start preparations for Saint Martin's tomorrow."

It was a close game early on as the Clan went to the locker room at halftime leading 1-0 before pouring on six goals in the second half.

Ryan Dhillon (North Delta, BC) opened the scoring for the home side in the 26th minute when he scored on a rebound to make it 1-0, a goal that would hold up as the game winner.

In the second half the Clan scored three times in the span of just over two minutes.

Chris Bargholz (Fuessen, Germany) started the flurry of goals with his shot into the top left corner of the net in the 56th minute. Alex Rowley (Maple Ridge, BC) got the assist.

Then Adam Staschuk (Delta, BC) scored in the 57th minute and 59 seconds later, Carlo Basso (Coquitlam, BC) took a pass from Bargholz in the box and scored to make it 4-0.

Basso got his second of the game in the 64th minute, scoring on a header off a Juan Sanchez (Armenia, Columbia) corner kick.

Colin Jacques (Richmond, BC) got into the act, scoring on a diving header in the 71st minute with Robert Hyams (Brentwood, UK) getting the assist and Tarnvir Bhandal (Victoria, BC) wrapped up the 7-0 win with his first collegiate goal in the 86th minute with Jovan Blagojevic (Coquitlam, BC) getting the assist.

"It was a great feeling to finally put one between the posts and score my first goal, kind of a weight off my shoulders," said Bhandal. "The guys have been very supportive of me and all the freshmen as we find our roles with the team, and our team play tonight reflected that."

Brandon Watson (Victoria, BC) played the bulk of the game in goal, making one save before he was relieved by Toscanny Pandu-Oesman (North Delta, BC) who played the final 12 minutes, preserving the shutout.

The win marked the 100th victory for Clan's coach Koch since he took over the SFU men's soccer program in 2008.

The Clan will wrap up the home portion of their schedule next week when they host the Saint Martin's Saints on Thursday at Terry Fox Field at 7:30 p.m. and the Seattle Pacific Falcons on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
