Clan wrap up home schedule

Box Score Burnaby, BC - The Simon Fraser University women's soccer team wrapped up their 2013 home schedule on Saturday afternoon at Terry Fox Field with a 3-0 loss to the Montana State University Billings Yellowjackets.

The game marked the final home match for four Clan seniors, Marissa Di Lorenzo (Burnaby, BC), Abbey Vogt (Burnaby, BC), Jenna Piovesan (Burnaby, BC) and Yva Rodriguez (Port Coquitlam, BC).

"We kept the energy up even though we were down," said Piovesan. "I thought we showed heart in our final home game of the season."

Through most of the first half was scoreless, the Yellowjackets got on the board late in the opening 45 minutes when Jessie Mancilla scored unassisted in the 39th minute on a shot from outside the box.

MSUB added two more goals within ten minutes of each other in the second half.

The first came in the 51st minute when Aubrey Briscoe scored with Jennifer Johnson getting the assist.

Heidi Greenback scored MSUB's final goal of the game in the 60th minute when she scored by tipping in Chelsea Shuman's corner kick.

Simone Tessler (Eugene, OR) started in goal for the Clan and made four saves in the match.

With the loss, the Clan's record moves to 1-11-2 on the season and 1-9-2 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play.

SFU will wrap up the 2013 season next week on the road against the Seattle Pacific Falcons on Thursday and the 12th ranked team in NCAA Division II, the Western Washington Vikings on Saturday.
