Burnaby, BC - The Simon Fraser University softball team allowed just one run in two games as they swept the Northwest Nazarene Crusaders at Beedie Field, winning game one 3-1 and game two 4-0.

For the second day in a row, Cara Lukawesky (Coquitlam, BC) pitched a complete game in the opening end of the double header. Over seven innings pitched she allowed just two hits and one run, striking out five.

Lauren Mew (Vancouver, BC) went three for four in the game while Alex Baylak (Regina, SK) was two for two with two runs batted in and a run scored, thanks to her home run in the second inning that scored Lauren Kolanko (Vancouver, BC) and herself to give SFU a 2-0 lead.

Northwest Nazarene cut the Clan lead in half in the fourth inning when an RBI single plated one.

Carly Lepoutre (Pickering, ON) had the other Clan RBI in the game, with her sacrifice fly in the sixth inning to push the Clan's third run of the game across, giving Lukawesky some insurance heading into the seventh.

Lepoutre went one for three in the game.

Kelsie Hawkins (Victoria, BC) pitched the complete game shut out in game two, scattering five hits through seven innings of work and striking out five.

Nicole Ratel (Langley, BC) went two for three while Kaitlyn Cameron (Langley, BC) went two for three with an RBI.

Cameron drove in the Clan's first run in the third inning with a single to left field that Lepoutre scored on and then in the fifth, two runs scored on an infield single by Baylak.

"I'm just focused on getting better everyday," said Cameron. "It's a process and I just need to keep learning but it was good to get some positive results. Both games were low scoring but eventually we got on them. Both of our pitchers turned in great performances."

Ratel drove in the Clan's final run of the game with a double to right field later in the fifth inning.

With the wins, the Clan improve to 9-9 on the season and 5-0 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play.

The conclusion of the suspended game against Montana State University Billings, which was scheduled for Sunday at Beedie Field has been postponed due to impending inclement weather.

The Clan will be back in action next Saturday, March 16 when they host the Western Washington Vikings at Beedie Field beginning at 1:00 p.m.
