Toronto, ON – The Canadian Football League Scouting Bureau released their 2014 CFL Canadian Draft September rankings on
Wednesday and two members of the Simon Fraser University football team were ranked in the top 15.
Casey Chin (Port Moody, BC) came in at 12th while
Matthias Goossen (Richmond, BC) was ranked 15th.
Chin, a linebacker and Goossen, an offensive lineman, are both in their senior season with the Clan.
The duo helped the Clan to a season opening win against the Humboldt State last weekend and Chin was named the defensive player of the week in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference for his efforts.
Chin had a pair of interceptions and was credited with 10 tackles in last week's game. He has led the GNAC in tackles in each of the last two seasons and has 229 career tackles to date.
Goossen and his teammates on the offensive line helped the Clan to an impressive performance against Humboldt that saw SFU put 41 points on the board and earn 587 yards in total offence.
Last year, Goossen anchored a young Clan offensive line that contributed to SFU boasting the top offence in the GNAC.
The SFU football team will be back in action on
September 21 after a bye week this week when they travel to Ellensburg, WA to face the defending GNAC champions, the Central Washington Wildcats.
