BURNABY, B.C. – The Simon Fraser football team fell 77-0 at Midwestern State (Texas) in its first Lone Star Conference road contest Saturday in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Junior defensive back
Evan Currie made five solo tackles and five assisted ones for the Red Leafs (0-2, 0-2 LSC). Senior defensive back
Damon Lynch and sophomore linebacker
Dayton Ingenhaag both recorded five solo tackles and one assisted. Senior linebacker
Isaac Muckian earned five solo tackles. Junior defensive lineman
Evan Nolli had SFU's lone sack of the game, two tackles for loss and four solo tackles in all.
Junior quarterback
Justin Seiber completed seven of 16 passes for 29 yards. Senior running back
Mason Glover rushed for 20 yards, while freshman
Ethan Sutton returned six kickoffs for 115 yards including a long run of 34.
Payton Shaw of MSU (3-1, 2-0) recorded a pair of rushing touchdowns and added a third by recovering a blocked punt and returning it for a score. Braxton Ash and Devin Cross also rushed for two majors apiece for the host Mustangs, who received votes in the latest American Football Coaches Association Division II Top 25 poll.
The Red Leafs will host Texas A&M-Kingsville next Saturday in Blaine, Washington. The kickoff at Blaine High School is scheduled for 6 p.m.
