ELLENSBURG, Wash. – Kaylese Callendar scored in the 70
th minute to cap a frenetic offensive display by Simon Fraser and earn a 3-3 draw with Central Washington Saturday afternoon in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference women's soccer game.
Simon Fraser fired 23 shots at the Wildcats through 90 minutes, opening the scoring in the ninth minute, knotting the game at 2-2 in the 59
th minute and then getting the draw thanks to Callendar's second goal of the season.
The Red Leafs now have two draws in four conference road games (1-3-4, 0-2-2 GNAC) but Saturday's offensive explosion should give the squad a lift for their first GNAC home game at SFU Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 29 against Seattle Pacific beginning at 5:00 pm.

SFU had gone goalless in three straight games but Saturday they scored a season-high three goals. The Red Leafs started hot, hitting the cross bar five minutes in and then scoring the first goal in the ninth minute. Midfielder
Jazz Dev played a short corner to
Giuliana Zaurrini just above the left corner of the penalty area. Zaurrini took a touch past a Wildcat defender and then fired a shot low short-side for the early lead.
The Wildcats responded almost immediately. SFU goalkeeper
Nicole Anderson misplayed a kick under pressure and the ball found Jordan Bartlow, who slotted a long shot into the goal to tie the game 1-1 in the 12th minute. The Wildcats scored again in the 26
th minute and took that lead into the break.
Kiara Buono scored her second of the year in the 59
th minute to tie the game again for SFU. Callender sent a long, curling cross the width of the field to Buono streaking down the right side. Buono slowed to stay onside, and then gathered the ball behind the defender, taking several strides to the corner of the box and then slipping a low shot past the 'keeper.
The Wildcats took the lead again eight minutes later, setting the stage for Callender's equalizer. CWU goalkeeper Jaggard Kassandra played a short pass to a defender inside the box and Callender applied sneaky pressure immediately, stealing the ball, taking a touch and tapping it into the corner for the unassisted marker.
SFU had 13 shots on goal in the game compared to six by the Wildcats.
