Entering 2022 season

Jerome Erdman is in his third campaign as SFU's defensive coordinator and defensive line coach. An alumnus and former assistant, he returned to SFU in August 2020, nearly three decades after his previous tenure as defensive secondary coach at the university.

Erdman started his playing career at Simon Fraser University as a defensive back and wide receiver, eventually progressing to the Canadian Football League. He made stops in Winnipeg, Ottawa, and Edmonton during his six years in the CFL. Erdman racked up 106 catches, 1,500 receiving yards to go along with three career interceptions. In 1984, he won the Grey Cup as a core member of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. After his CFL career, Erdman played five seasons with the Glasgow Lions in the Scottish Football League.

Erdman has a wide range of coaching experience, gained in leagues across Canada and the United Kingdom.

As a head coach, Erdman won a Scottish league title with the Glasgow Lions in 1996. As a defensive coordinator, Erdman served the Scottish Claymores of NFL Europe between 1998-2000. He has also made multiple stops across the CFL with the BC Lions (2002), Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2003-2006) and the Toronto Argonauts (2008).

At the university level, Erdman was the special teams coordinator and linebackers coach at Bishop's in Quebec before coming to SFU. He has also had multiple stints at McGill and UBC.

Erdman was as the head coach of the Vancouver Island Raiders junior football team from 2015-17.
