Biography

A golfer from Victoria, B.C., O'Brien signed with SFU in 2023 after winning three tournaments in 2022, including the April qualifying event for the IMG Junior World Championship. At the world event in July, he tied for 97th. O'Brien also won the CJGA BC Championship in June. He tied for 13th at the BC Junior Championship (June 27-July 1), and ended up in a tie for 29th at the Canadian Junior Boys Championship in August. Later that month, O'Brien tied for third at the CJGA Mizuno National Championship. An honour roll student with a 95 per cent average, O'Brien graduated from Oak Bay Secondary School in 2023. He helped his high school team place third at the provincial tournament in 2022. O'Brien's family moved to Australia when he was 12, and he continued to develop in golf there before coming back to Canada two years later.
